Hi, this is Judi Otton on with GrowthCast and today I’m going to switch things up a little bit. I’m going to share a little bit about my back story and how I got to be where I am and why I do what I do. Before I owned GrowthCast I was a partner in another consulting firm. We did custom software and hardware development for big companies like Pitney Bowes and Honeywell and ASML. Very early on in my tenure, we ran into one of those situations that no business owner ever wants to face. Payroll was coming up and we didn’t have the funds to make payroll. Now we were growing, we were profitable. How could this be? Well, let me tell you, it happens all the time. What happened in our situation was we had a problem with one P. O. With one customer and those checks were not getting processed appropriately. And at that point we were really paying enough attention to that. So the mini moral in this video is that sales are great, but you need to get that cash in the door. So I continued with this company, I was with this company for eight years and in that time I got to know a lot of other business owners and I saw that they had similar problems or similar gotchas, things that happened to them. Now, they were all very bright, very, very knowledgeable in their area of expertise, but some of them were not comfortable with the financials. When I left that company at the end of 2012, I knew I wanted to do something to help business owners. It took me a few tries to get it right. I started with a cash flow forecasting app and finally evolved to the consulting model that I have now. And I I love it. I love helping my business owners thrive. I love explaining finance in plain English and most of all, I really love working with companies that are doing good out in the world.
