We are coming up on my favorite time of year!
Hi, this is Judi Otton with GrowthCast, and while I’m not talking about the holidays, I do love them. What I’m really talking about is budgeting and business planning. I love imagining the future and thinking, what am I going to try next year? What am I gonna let go of? And I love doing that on behalf of my clients. So today, I’m going to tell you about the kind of work that I’m doing for my clients right now to help us get ready for budgeting season.
The first thing that I’m doing is cleaning up their QuickBooks. Make sure that every transaction is categorized correctly, the accounts make sense, this is the kind of structure for the financials that we want going forward, and are there any changes or any new accounts that we need to add? Are there any things that we’re not using or could combine? So, I clean up their QuickBooks so that I have great, clean, well-organized data on which to base next year’s budget.
The second thing we’re we’re doing is having conversations about what worked and what didn’t in this year. What are the things that we want to carry forward? What are the things that we want to let go of?
And the third thing that we’re talking about next year is starting to think about what we want to do differently. What kind of new hires do we want to bring on board? What kind of new lines of business are we launching? Are there any new marketing initiatives, new equipment, training, or consulting needed to get us to the next level?
This is fun for me. I have a blast. I love imagining the future. So, we will be talking about budgeting for probably quite a few more videos.
